SML Isuzu Limited has appointed Mr. C. S. Verma as the new Chairman of the Company effective from 22nd September 2024 in place of Mr. S.K. Tuteja whose term ended on 21st September, 2024. Mr. S.K. Tuteja, a retired IAS officer, was associated with the Company for the last 26 years.
Mr. C.S. Verma is a distinguished leader who has held significant posts in prestigious organisations of the country across various industries. He has a vast experience of more than four decades, mainly in the industrial organisations. He has been the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) from June, 2010 to June, 2015 and also held additional charge of CMD, National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) for nearly two years. Besides, he has been the Chairman of International Coal Ventures Ltd. (ICVL), a Joint Venture of five leading Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSE). He has also worked in BHEL for five years as the Director (Finance) of the Company.
His professional recognitions include being the Chairman of SCOPE, the apex body of CPSEs; the first president of the Indian Steel Association, the apex body of the Indian Steel Industry; and, Chairman of the 'National Committee on Steel' of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII). Besides, he has been the Member of the Governing Council of All India Management Association (AIMA); Member on the Board of Governors of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Raipur and the Council Member of Indian Institute of Metals.
Mr. Verma has made significant contributions to the industry and has been conferred with several prestigious awards, including the 'CEO of the Year' Platts Global Metals Award, the IIM - JRD Tata Award for Excellence in Corporate leadership in Metallurgical Industry and SCOPE Award for "Excellence & Outstanding Contribution to the Public Sector Management - Individual Category.
